#83 - CAREER THERAPY REWIND: Unleashing Creativity in Your Career, with Juliet Barrett
Career Therapy Podcast e.83 - CAREER THERAPY REWIND: Unleashing Creativity in Your Career, with Juliet Barrett
NOTE: This episode first premiered on March 2, 2020. We chose this episode as the second Career Therapy Rewind because Martin and Juliet specifically discuss how to work with unconventional and/or off-the-beaten path pieces of a lifetime. What should you do about a resumé gap? What if you were a professional poker player for a few years?? What if, like Martin, you sang in a ska band??? These are less talked-about career challenges and something that Juliet’s not afraid to tackle.
If you're curious, you can find the original episode here.
Here's the original description:
For Career Therapy Podcast episode 5, we welcome creative career coach Juliet Barrett to the show (for the first time).
Juliet is a self-proclaimed “incubatress of ideas,” and in this conversation, she and Martin discuss their shared interest in overcoming mental blocks. Juliet also talks about how she became a creative career coach after stints in television, broadcasting (at PBS), and professional mural painting.
Later on in the conversation we learn about Martin’s past as the singer of a ska band, and how he used that exact story in interviews. The two also touch on such taboo topics as tattoos, heavy metal songs (eg. “The Slam Dance”), and how to put items such as “professional poker player” on your resumé. It’s a fascinating discussion for anyone looking to start their own business, rebrand themselves, or even get into coaching.

Career Therapy Podcast e.82 - CAREER THERAPY REWIND: Building a Successful Career in UI/UX, with Jason Early
NOTE: This episode first premiered on February 23, 2020. We chose this episode as the first Career Therapy Rewind because it contains some real practical advice on how to get (and then manage) clients. There's also a lot of reassurance and perspective around the nightmare of dealing with HR, extended interview processes, and what companies are actually going through when they’re hiring.
If you're curious, you can find the original episode here.
Here's the original description:
For Career Therapy Podcast episode 4, we welcome UX expert Jason Early.

#81 | 2021 WRAP-UP FINALE EPISODE
2021 WRAP-UP FINALE EPISODE | E.81 Career Therapy Podcast, with Martin McGovern (and guests)
Apple Podcasts | Google Podcasts | Overcast | PocketCasts | Spotify | YouTube
On this week's Career Therapy Podcast (e.81), we'd like to welcome you to our first ever year in review!
Career Therapy started as a meetup group, pre-pandemic, when we could still gather together in person without masks and talk to one another through the trials and tribulations of the job search.
But, as the world changed, so did we. The meetup pivoted into LinkedIn livestreams, youtube videos, and ultimately The Career Therapy Podcast.
I absolutely adore talking to new people, hearing their perspectives on the world, and sharing those insights with you. So, today we will look back in order to enter the new year with confidence.
But, before we jump into our clips, I want to say thank you to you. Thank you for tuning in and being part of the Career Therapy journey with me. This podcast has evolved into a weekly part of my life over the years and I couldn’t have done it without your support, comments, questions, and kindness.
Over the past year we have put out 41 episodes with a total of 2,157 minutes of conversations. The podcast has been streamed in 20 new countries, including Germany, Argentina, The Czech Republic, India, and Japan. We’ve increased our follower count by 647% and our listener count by 999% …and 26 of you listen to the Career Therapy Podcast more than any other podcast. Honestly, when Spotify gave me these numbers, my brain nearly exploded.
So, thank you thank you thank you so much for your support. I can’t wait to bring you even more to listen to in 2022. And without further adieu, here are some of our best clips from the past year to refresh your memory and end things on the right foot.
--
I want to send a ton of love to all of the guests that have joined us over the past year to bring new perspectives to the job search and share what they have learned about life with us all. I cannot thank them enough for their generosity and kindness.
That wraps up our end of year look back. Thanks again for tuning in. We will be taking a bit of a hiatus in January, possibly resharing some past episodes,
Happy New Year! and cheers to your continued success! See you soon.
